How to Calculate Building Material Requirements

Block Count vs. Material Count

Not every block requires the same number of raw materials. Some blocks have direct 1:1 material conversion (1 Cobalt Ore → 1 Cobalt Bar), while others require multiple raw inputs per crafted block. A Wood Plank typically requires 2–4 Oak Logs depending on the recipe tier. The calculator converts your target block count to actual raw materials by accounting for these crafting ratios at each step.

Structure Templates Save Time

Instead of adding blocks one by one, use the structure templates to load a predefined building type. A standard house template might require 200 Stone Blocks + 80 Oak Planks + 20 Cobalt Bars for supports. Templates are starting points — you can adjust counts up or down for your specific build dimensions while keeping the material ratio proportions accurate.

Zone Access Affects Material Sourcing

Stone and Oak are available from Zone 1 (Emerald Grove). Cobalt Ore comes from Zone 2 (Devastated Lands). Mithril and Pine come from Zone 3 (Borea). If your build requires materials from multiple zones, the calculator separates the material list by zone of origin so you can plan farming runs across zones sequentially rather than making repeated round trips.

Planning a Build's Materials

1
Count your target blocks

Before using the calculator, sketch out or count the number of each block type your build needs. Even rough counts produce useful estimates — you can refine them after you have a material baseline to work from.

2
Enter each block type and quantity

Add each block type from your count to the calculator. The tool expands each block into its raw material requirements and aggregates the totals across all block types automatically.

3
Check the raw materials summary

The summary shows total raw inputs after all crafting ratios are applied. If your build needs 50 Cobalt Blocks and each block requires 3 Cobalt Bars, the summary shows 150 Cobalt Bars (and the 150 Cobalt Ore needed to smelt them).

4
Plan farming by zone

Review the zone-sorted material list. Zone 1 materials can be farmed first for the foundation. Zone 2 materials for structural supports and decorative elements come next, so you can start building with available materials while continuing to farm the rest.

Common Questions

Does the calculator include crafting station materials?

The calculator focuses on building block materials. Crafting station setup materials (like the Armor Bench itself) are not included in building calculations. If your build plan includes workstations, add their components manually or use the Recipe Calculator to look up their individual requirements.

How do I plan a build that spans multiple tiers?

Use different block tiers for different build sections — Zone 1 stone for the base, Cobalt Bars for structural beams, Mithril Blocks for decorative elements. Enter each tier separately in the calculator and the total material list breaks down what needs to come from each zone.

Can I save a material list for later?

Use your browser's copy function on the materials table or the export button if available. The list can be pasted into a notes app and used as a shopping checklist during your farming runs. Materials can be crossed off as you gather them.
