Slay the Spire 2 V101 Ascension Changes
This page isolates the ladder change that matters in V101: Gloom at A6 no longer cuts unknown rooms. The pressure stays on Rest Sites, while the rest of the late-ladder order holds where players expect it.
Gloom at A6 now cuts Rest Sites only. Unknown-room frequency is back to normal.
That means the pressure lives on campfire access, not broad map shrinkage.
The live Ascension guide now matches the current ladder wording instead of the older mixed read.
1. Gloom
A6 now trims Rest Sites only
V101 backs Gloom away from unknown-room compression. The modifier still tightens recovery windows, but it now does that with fewer campfires alone.
Less Rest Sites and ? rooms.
Less Rest Sites.
Unknown rooms return to their normal frequency. The map squeeze now sits entirely on Rest Site count.
Gloom is still the A6 step that makes recovery tighter before Scarcity, Tough Enemies, and the late-ladder stat checks.
Event-heavy routing is live again. The hard part is fewer campfires, not fewer branching rooms.
Read A6 as campfire pressure, not blanket map shrinkage.
2. Route read
What this changes in real runs
The point is simple: V101 restores the event side of the map while leaving campfire pressure in place. That is a cleaner modifier than shrinking both at once.
You can still plan event-heavy paths after A6. The question is whether the deck can live with one fewer reset point.
Fewer Rest Sites still hurts because smithing, healing, and key relic payoffs all fight for the same smaller window.
A7 is still Scarcity, A8 is still Tough Enemies, A9 is still Deadly Enemies, and A10 is still Double Boss.
3. Late-ladder context
The ladder around Gloom stays in the same order
Fixing A6 does not reshuffle the rest of the climb. These are still the live steps players need to remember after Gloom.
Cuts Rest Sites only.
Rare and upgraded card rewards show up less often.
Enemy HP moves to the tougher band.
Enemy damage climbs while the A8 HP band stays in place.
Act 3 closes with two different bosses.
4. Site sync
Where the update now lands on the site
The ladder page is only trustworthy if the supporting navigation and lookup pages stop carrying the old A6 read. These pages now line up with the live wording.
A6 Gloom now reads as a Rest Site-only modifier across the full ladder page.
