About This UTD Calculator

Hey there. I'm the person who built this site.

Started playing Universal Tower Defense back in December 2024 when it exploded on Roblox. Got hooked immediately. But here's the thing - I'm also a numbers person. So I started digging into the game mechanics, testing damage formulas, tracking drop rates.

After runs across different modes, I realized most UTD calculators out there were either using outdated stats or just plain wrong. Some still had pre-nerf numbers from patches ago. Others didn't account for how traits actually stack with relics.

So I built this. It's basically the tool I wish existed when I was trying to figure out if investing 2000 gems in a specific unit was actually worth it.

What This Site Actually Does

DPS Calculator

The problem: The game shows "250 ATK" on a unit. Cool. But what's the real damage output after you factor in trait bonuses, relic buffs, ability cooldowns, and evolution bonuses?

What this calculates:

  • Actual sustained DPS with all modifiers applied
  • Critical hit calculations based on your specific build
  • Ability uptime (because buffs aren't permanent - that matters for calculations)
  • Evolution breakpoints (E4 isn't just "more damage", there are specific thresholds)

Real example: Someone asked yesterday whether to build Shadow or Goju for Infinite Mode. Calculator showed Shadow at 4,234 DPS vs Goju at 3,890 DPS with their current relics. Saved them from wasting gems on the wrong upgrade.

Team Optimizer

Plug in your units, get team suggestions that actually work in-game. No more "this should work" followed by getting destroyed on Wave 15.

What it does:

  • Calculates total team DPS (accounting for unit synergies and positioning)
  • Shows upgrade costs upfront (so you know what you're committing to)
  • Identifies synergy combos (like Miku + high DPS carries)

Unit Database & Evolution Planner

Every unit's stats, abilities, and evolution paths. Material costs, evolution bonuses, ability unlocks - all in one place.

Tested and verified across multiple game modes. If I haven't personally tested a unit interaction, I mark it as "unverified" rather than guessing.

Resource Optimizers

Figure out the most efficient way to farm gems, gold, and materials. Which Story Mode acts give best returns. When to do Challenge Mode vs Story farming. Real efficiency numbers, not vague advice.

Why This Is Different

1. Actually Updated

Game got patched yesterday? Stats get updated within 24 hours. I'm borderline obsessive about keeping data current.

Recent example: December update changed how certain trait modifiers stack. Had that fixed in the calculator by that evening.

2. Real Testing Data

Every calculation is verified against actual gameplay. I don't copy numbers from wikis or other sites. I test it myself or get confirmation from the community.

3. No Fluff

If a unit is mediocre, I'll say it's mediocre. If a strategy is overhyped, I'll explain why. No point in recommending stuff that doesn't actually work.

There are units people recommend all the time that honestly aren't worth the investment unless you have very specific other units to support them.

Data Sources & Testing

All data comes from:

  • Direct in-game testing across multiple accounts and game modes
  • Community player submissions (thank you to everyone who shares run data)
  • Frame-by-frame analysis for ability timing and damage calculations
  • Statistical analysis of drop rates across hundreds of runs

When I can't personally verify something, I either mark it clearly or don't include it until I can test it properly.

The formulas used in calculators are reverse-engineered from actual gameplay results, not guesswork. If a calculation seems off, test it yourself and let me know - I've fixed several formula errors based on player reports.

FAQ (Real Questions I Get)

How do you make money from this?

Google ads. That's it. The ones you see on the pages.

Hosting costs about $40/month. Ads cover that plus maybe coffee money. Not exactly a business empire.

Are you affiliated with the UTD devs?

Nope. Just a player who got too into the numbers. The devs probably don't even know this site exists.

Can I trust your calculations?

Test them yourself if you want. All the major formulas are transparent.

Seriously though - I've had players find 3 calculation bugs in the past month. Reported them, I fixed them same day. Nothing here is gospel, it's just the most accurate numbers I can provide based on current testing.

Why isn't [new unit] in the database yet?

Probably one of these reasons:

  • Just released (give me 24-48h to test and add data)
  • I haven't unlocked it yet (looking at you, some secret units)
  • It's extremely niche and I'm prioritizing more commonly used units

Request it via email and I'll bump it up the priority list.

Can you add [feature]?

Maybe. Email me the idea. If it's useful for a lot of players and feasible to build, I'll add it to the roadmap.

Recent additions from player requests: Income Calculator, Unit Comparison tool, Challenge Mode calendar.
